Enterprise Collaboration and Data Services Lead

  • Work for Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as the team lead for the Enterprise Collaboration and Development Services (ECDS) of the Management Information Systems Office (MISO) in the Office of the Director (OD).  Supervisory and direct control with two developers, an architect, a Business Analyst and Site Collection Administrator (SCA).
  • Reviewed and developed strategy for the team for the upcoming FY.  Developed the processes and implemented the SCRUM development methodology and did a daily Stand-Up meeting for tasks based on SCRUM.  Reviewed the procedures for spillage of classified data and implemented improvements.  Performed a security review of the infrastructure.  Developed a staffing model and began recruiting for open vacancies.  Staff was at 100% in first 60 days.

MS SharePoint Admin and MS SQL Server Database Administrator

  • Work for USAFRICOM CJTF-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) J6 in Djibouti City, Djibouti providing System Support for MS Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 and Database Administrator of MS SQL Server 2008.
  • Conducted initial assessment of the MS SharePoint and MS SQL Server.  Audited security and prepared a Security Assessment, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for implementing security and remediation plan.  The security review included implementation of STIGs for MS SQL Server and MS SharePoint servers.
  • Completed a Business Continuity Plan that included processes for the existing Continuity of Operations (COOP) site.  Completed Disaster Recovery Plan (DR) and DR exercises.
  • Implemented a Pilot on SharePoint 2010.  Tested upgrade of content from MOSS 2007 using database attach method, in-place upgrade, visual upgrade and manual migrations.  The Pilot successfully moved a Site Collection used for managing projects.  Helped USAFRICOM with their portal migration in Stuttgart, Germany.

Knowledge Management Office (KMO) Site Lead

  • Worked for the US Army Europe (USAREUR) in the G3 (Operations) and for the Knowledge Management Officer (KMO).  Direct supervisory responsibility for a team of six programmers and completed 28 development projects in two years.
  • Gather requirements for USAREUR’s  Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF) website.  The project reviewed a prototype developed by 21st TSC Public Affairs.  The prototype was used to identify and validate the requirements for a public Internet facing website.  The first step in gathering requirements was finding and reviewing all Army Publications and Army in Europe (AE) publications concerning KM, public websites, Public Affairs Office (PAO) and DoD restrictions on Personally Identifiable Information (PII).  In addition, the United States government places restrictions on collecting information and monitoring users of government webs sites.
  • Developed the Task Force Relocation website to support the move of the Command Headquarters from Heidelberg to Wiesbaden.  The project  site tracks $187 million project.  The SharePoint site had custom search solution, meta-data and content types, development of Info-Path forms, and multi-media content integration.  Developed a custom master page and branding for the site using Master Pages, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Data View Web Part (DVWP).
  • Prepared a Training Assessment of the SharePoint Server Portal.  Developed training materials for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 and SharePoint 2010.  Conducted training courses for USAREUR G3 and G4 (Logistics).
  • Provided Content Management to the SharePoint portal for the G3 and the USAREUR Command Center and Combined Operations and Intelligence Cell (COIC).
  • Implemented Google Earth integration with SharePoint for a Common Operational Picture (COP) application for the command.  Implemented Command Post of the Future (CPOF), CIDNE, BICES and SIGACTS in the Command Center.

Project Manager and Senior SharePoint Consultant

  • Completed a Strategic Assessment of the SharePoint portal and the processes to implement solutions.  Developed project plan template and document templates for the deliverables of a standard SharePoint development project.  Provided auditing of project deliverables for compliance to contractual obligations.  Implemented quality procedures and security reviews throughout the life cycle of development.
  • Project Manager with accountability for four simultaneous projects at the Georgia Department of Education.  The projects included GeorgiaStandards, an Internet site supporting both teachers (200,000) and students across the state.  The solution included substantially customizing MS SharePoint.  Another project used SharePoint to provide Extranet access allowing School Districts and schools authenticated access to use additional features.  Each project is approximately $500 thousand with a team of 8 lasting approximately 3 months.
  • Project Manager working on SharePoint implementations at Georgia Department of Education and Records Management for two Georgia counties.  The Records Center solution for one county was a warrant repository to store all warrants issued by the court.   The project became a Microsoft Case Study.

2007 to 2008                                      Multi-National Force – Iraq                                          Baghdad, Iraq

MNF-I KM Lead

  • Promoted to Site Lead of Knowledge Management and SharePoint for Multi-National Forces Iraq (MNF-I).  Worked on project plans and statuses and presented reports to the senior leadership of MNF-I.
  • Direct supervisory responsibilities for a Technical Trainer, 2 SharePoint Administrators and 2 SharePoint developers and 2 programmers/database developers.
  • Worked on project planning and implementation of SharePoint 2003 to MOSS SharePoint 2007.  Completed Project Plans for the implementation of Task Management Tracker (TMT), MS Office Communications Server (OCS) and Electronic Decorations (EDEC).
  • As Content Manager, completed an assessment of the MNF-I and made recommendation on improving the content for the portal.  In the first three months, completed implementation of all recommendations.  Developed strategic roadmap, digital rules of engagement (DROE), Concept of Operations, and SOPs for the KM.  The portal provided knowledge management solution for 168,000 troops in the ITO.

Senior Consultant

  • Developed SharePoint site to track product deliverables and support processes.  The SharePoint portal supported online peer-reviews and sharing work between team in the field and the team in CONUS.  DoS client was provided access to work products.
  • Lead IT Advisor directing Iraqi staff on the development of a Justice Integration project.  The project was initially started using “open source” platform, but successfully transitioned to a .NET web application using MySQL and MS SQL Server.  The application was completely developed by the Iraqi staff.  The current initiative is creating a web service application that will allow the different ministries involved in the Justice System to communicate with each other.
  • At the Center for Disease control and Prevention, developed an application to measure the performance of $1.6 billion of projects.  The application used traffic lights to indicate the status of projects at a high level for senior management and summarized project goals and alignment with President’s Management Agenda (PMA) and CDC’s transformation initiatives.  Developed and implemented project proposals and projected plans.  Participated in all phases of project from business case, requirements analysis, design, risk assessment, implementation, training and documentation, and support.

  • Instructor for HEDS and ATEC.  Curriculum included introducing students to college environment and teaching them basic computer skills they will need for college classes, including  web based tools, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access Database, Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems and Internet research.  Utilized online teaching tools extensively, specifically WebCT\Vista, Groove (online collaboration and meeting) and Computer Based Training (CBT).  Evaluated student performance.

  • Support the company’s rollout of a data warehouse.  Responsibilities include analysis of requests, customer management and preparing and implementing project plans.  Technologies include supporting AIX-UNIX servers and scripts and Oracle 8 database.  Extractions of data were from multiple database platforms and systems.  Used Informatica’s PowerMart for Extraction, Transformation and Load (ETL) and Business Objects and Crystal Reports for development of reports and User Interfaces (UI).

Project Manager – GA400 Web Team

  • Consolidated multiple division web sites into an integrated web site hosted at the Corporate Headquarters.
  • Deputy project manager for the integration of multiple web sites scattered throughout the Process Industries Division (PID) into one division web site hosted in a single location.  Transformed the web site metaphor to an Enterprise Portal facilitating a single message throughout the organization.  Substantial reduction in cost for continuing operations.
  • Implemented and improved architecture for the GA400 web site, including implementation of ISAPI Filters for web site navigation and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for consistency in branding.
  • Implemented and improved architecture for the GA400 website.  Designed and implemented security enhancements.
  • Created and implemented program for interns and practical training students from local high schools and universities and exchange program from Europe.  Program included recruitment, training, and managing their projects.

Applications Analyst-Web Developer

  • Lead developer for several web applications including the replacement of the Visual Basic 6.0 with Visual Basic .NET.  Updated the Employee Master Database and Time and Expense at Siemens (TEXAS) with .NET Dynamic Link Libraries (DLL)s.
  • Developed several “People” application modules using the SCRUM and Agile development methodologies.  The modules included a performance management, project request, project tracking, task time tracking, status reports and others.

  • Responsibilities included Administration of Web Servers in Corporate location and handle escalation from regional data centers in Dallas, LA, NY and Europe.  In Europe, performed a turnkey implementation building servers, testing the capabilities and turn-over to Operations and Maintenance support in two weeks.  Key roles include documentation, planning, deployment and implementation, consulting and training.  This is a core enterprise technology being rolled out internationally.

Technical Support ISNEXT

  • Provided exclusive technical support for the ISNEXT Project to more than 20,000 desktop users.  The project implemented a standard desktop company-wide.  The rollout was national and international and included converting desktops from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 and installing Lotus Notes Domino (E-mail and Database).  Trained the Help Desk in top support issues of the project.
  • Supported 20,000 for E-mail and databases for document sharing and project management.
  • Rollout of LANDesk and System Management Server (SMS) to perform scans of PC systems and audit compliance with company policies.

First-line Tech Support (Help Desk)

  • Worked with all computing environments at the Help Desk, including PCs, mainframe, AS/400, handheld PCs and supported the company’s proprietary software called BASIS.  Participated in the company’s annual Disaster Recovery exercise for Information Technology.  Tested the failover of systems to an alternate data center hosted by IBM in Elmsford, New York.
